Every September, the fashion calendar becomes a global relay race. New York hands the spotlight to London, London passes it to Milan, and Milan gives way to Paris. Across just a few weeks, the Big Four fashion capitals will introduce their Spring/Summer 2027 collections. This season, the runways are particularly interesting because several major houses are being shaped by new creative leadership.
The 2026 schedule runs from New York Fashion Week on September 10–15, followed by London Fashion Week on September 17–21, Milan Fashion Week on September 22–28, and finally Paris Fashion Week from September 28–October 6. The official calendars already point toward a season defined by established houses, major returns, creative-director debuts, and designers entering their second or third seasons at some of fashion’s most influential names.
Rather than simply asking what will be trending? This season invites another question: who is deciding what comes next?
New York: American Fashion Takes the Lead
New York will open the Big Four season from September 10–15, 2026, with the CFDA’s preliminary official schedule featuring established names including Michael Kors Collection, Tory Burch, Carolina Herrera, Khaite, Proenza Schouler, Coach, Anna Sui, Christian Siriano, Ulla Johnson, LaQuan Smith, Altuzarra, Collina Strada, and Thom Browne. The schedule begins with Henry Zankov’s debut for Diane von Furstenberg and concludes with Thom Browne.
For New York, the story is less about one enormous creative-director shake-up and more about the range of American fashion voices sharing the same calendar. Michael Kors is one of the high-visibility showcases, while we will also see the much-anticipated return of Tommy Hilfiger after his brief hiatus last season.
The presence of Coach is particularly relevant to the accessories conversation. As handbags become increasingly important to the commercial and cultural identity of fashion houses, the New York runway will be worth watching not only for clothing but also for how designers approach leather goods, everyday bags, footwear, and accessories.
London: Seán McGirr and Christopher Kane Take Center Stage
London may have one of the most intriguing creative-director stories of the season.
McQueen is returning to London Fashion Week, with Seán McGirr presenting his London debut for the house. The collection will combine menswear and womenswear for Spring/Summer 2027. McGirr’s arrival at McQueen has already generated considerable interest because he is tasked with developing the next chapter of a house whose identity is deeply connected to dramatic tailoring, craftsmanship, and theatrical fashion.
Then there is Mulberry, which returns to the London calendar under Christopher Kane. His September show will mark his debut collection for the British leather-goods house, making it one of the most important moments to watch for anyone interested in handbags and accessories.
The wider schedule also includes the return of Burberry, Barbour, Emilia Wickstead, Erdem, Harris Reed, Richard Quinn, Roksanda, and Simone Rocha, alongside emerging designers supported through BFC NEWGEN.
Milan: A Season of Second Acts and New Directions
Milan Fashion Week runs from September 22–28, 2026, with 54 physical shows and six digital shows scheduled for the Spring/Summer 2027 season. Unlike seasons dominated by numerous creative-director appointments, Milan’s September calendar has more of a transition story.
One of the biggest moments will come from Moschino, where Loris Messina and Simone Rizzo, founders of Sunnei, will make their first runway appearance as the house’s co-creative directors on September 25. Their appointment follows Adrian Appiolaza’s departure and gives the duo an opportunity to establish their interpretation of Moschino’s irreverent identity.
Maria Grazia Chiuri will present her second Fendi collection on September 23, while Meryll Rogge continues her work at Marni. Demna will also present his second Gucci ready-to-wear collection on September 25. These “second acts” can be just as revealing as debuts: the first collection introduces a creative vocabulary, while the following season begins to show whether that vocabulary is becoming a coherent house language.

The schedule also brings together some of Italy’s biggest luxury names, including Prada, Fendi, Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Ferragamo, Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani, Jil Sander, Missoni, and Marni. Prada opens the runway schedule on September 22, while Bottega Veneta and Ferragamo are among the major Saturday shows.
Milan will also host Vogue World: Milano on opening day, with the event expected to explore the relationship between Italian craftsmanship, artisanship, creativity, and technology.
Paris: The Final Word on the Season
Paris will close the Big Four runways from September 28 to October 6, 2026, and its Spring/Summer 2027 schedule is arguably the most packed of the four cities.
The official calendar contains 68 shows and 33 presentations, with major houses including Dior, Saint Laurent, Chanel, Tom Ford, Dries Van Noten, Balenciaga, Loewe, Celine, Miu Miu, and Louis Vuitton.
At Courrèges, Drew Henry will present his first collection as the house’s artistic director on September 30. At Carven, Kai Nesselrath will make his debut as design director on October 1. Paris will also welcome back Valentino and Maison Margiela after temporarily showcasing their collections at Rome and Shanghai, respectively.
The Bigger Story: Fashion Is Moving Into a New Creative Cycle
Looking across all four cities, the most interesting development isn’t a single silhouette or color. It’s the changing creative leadership behind established fashion houses.
Some designers will be presenting their first collections. Others, such as Chiuri at Fendi and Demna at Gucci, are entering their second major seasons and beginning to establish a longer-term direction. Meanwhile, established creative voices will continue refining identities that already have strong relationships with their audiences.

A first collection often asks, What can this designer bring to the house? A second or third collection begins asking, How will that vision become part of the house itself?
For consumers and collectors, these shifts can make fashion week especially exciting. The accessories introduced during these seasons may eventually become the pieces that define an era—the bags, shoes, and leather goods that become associated with a particular creative director’s tenure.
The September 2026 fashion calendar isn’t simply a parade of new clothes. It is a snapshot of fashion houses being rewritten, refined, and sometimes completely redirected by the people leading them.
New York will showcase the breadth of American fashion. London brings the return of major British names and highly anticipated debuts from Seán McGirr at McQueen and Christopher Kane at Mulberry. Milan places the spotlight on Moschino’s new creative leadership alongside second-season developments at Fendi, Marni, and Gucci. Paris then brings the season to its grand finale with a packed calendar of established houses, returning names, and new creative voices at Courrèges and Carven.
And as these designers shape the next chapter of fashion, the pieces they create will eventually leave the runway and enter real wardrobes. They’ll be carried to dinners, brought on trips, used for years, and hopefully passed down to the next generation.
